Description
The Beacon Centre are made up of a 12-person general inpatient unit and a 5-person day unit. They support young people from aged 13 up until their 18th birthday who are affected by different mental health challenges. They also have an onsite school, Northgate, so that our young people can get educational support while they are with us.
The team at the center are committed to helping the young people in their care. At the Beacon Centre they create a safe, supportive and validating environment where young people come to manage crisis.
The Beacon Centre Day Service offers a 9-5pm service underpinned by education, focused individual and group support around managing self-harm, anxiety, low mood and managing mental health.
- Why might a young person be admitted to the Beacon Centre?
Young people are admitted to the Beacon Centre following the onset of an acute mental health difficulty and emotional dysregulation / crisis. On admission young people might be struggling with such mental health problems as depression, self-harm, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, suicidal thoughts or psychosis.
Staff at the Beacon Centre work in conjunction with families, schools, social care and community services to ensure each young person’s care is individualised to them.
The Beacon Day Service is for young people who can manage their safety in the community but require additional support to avoid escalation into inpatient care. We also offer a ‘step-down’ service, for young people who have completed an episode of inpatient care and treatment, this young person will be ready to access community services with additional support from the day service to aid the smooth transition out of tier 4 CAMHS services and promote positive outcomes.
