Description
Safety is core to NCL Waiting Room’s development and service delivery.
We address safety across three domains:
- Clinical risk management
- Content quality
- Cyber security
These measures collectively ensure a safe and reliable environment for users. Find out more about how we ensure the platform is safe by reading the information below.
Clinical risk management
Ensuring the safety and security of young people and families using the NCL Waiting Room website is a top priority.
The site adheres to strict clinical risk management standards, specifically DCB0129 compliance, which is a standard for the clinical risk management of health IT systems.
This compliance is overseen by a dedicated Clinical Safety Officer and involves maintaining a comprehensive hazard log and clinical safety case to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Content quality
We define ‘content quality’ as resources and associated materials that are relevant, suitable, free, accessible and in-line with existing professional guidance and best practice.
Content quality is maintained through the involvement of an Expert Reference Group, which meets monthly and includes professionals from different disciplines, including art therapists, psychiatrists, researchers, directors, and health psychologists. You can more about our Expert Reference Group by visiting this page.
This group reviews all existing resources on the site twice yearly and approves new resources during their monthly meetings. Crisis-related resources are reviewed every three months.
Our content management process, which guides this group’s work, is structured with clear guidelines for content submission, approval, and review, ensuring that updates are systematically managed.
Cyber security
Cybersecurity measures include regular penetration testing to identify and address vulnerabilities. The platform also upholds several important policies to protect users:
- Privacy Policy: This document explains how the website collects, uses, and protects personal information. It ensures that user data is handled responsibly and complies with data protection regulations.
- End User License Agreement (EULA): This is a legal agreement between the website and its users, outlining the terms and conditions for using the site. It sets the rules for access, usage, and any limitations or responsibilities of the users.
- Cookies Policy: This policy details how the website uses cookies—small data files stored on users’ devices—to enhance their browsing experience. It explains what information is collected, how it is used, and how users can manage their cookie preferences.
